It’s been a very busy start to 2016 for The Leylines. Not only have we had a great few gigs to kick things off (Worcester, Bideford, Cardiff, and everything in between), but we have been hard at work raising the funds to get our debut album off the ground.
We were completely overwhelmed by the response we had when we announced our fund-raising campaign back in November, with contributions coming in from all over the UK. We cannot thank you enough for your support and generosity – well, actually we can – by giving you an album that we hope you will love as much as we do!
If you haven’t done so already, please visit http://supporttheleylines.co.uk/ to pre-order your copy!
You might have guessed from the title of this post that we now have a name for this record – ‘Along The Old Straight Track’. Credit for this title goes almost entirely to our friend Alan Fisher, who mentioned the book by Alfred Watkins in conversation with us some months back (whether he remembers or not is another matter, but it was definitely him!) with the addition of ‘Along’ in reference to the tracks at Sawmill Studios, where we first starting ‘being a band’. We also thought it’s high time we gave you a sneak peek at the artwork above, for which we have the very talented Katy Smith, Sam Norman and CJ Cawley to thank. More images like this to follow in the coming months, but for now, that’s yer lot!
SO. THE POINT. LET’S GET TO IT.
We asked you guys where you would like us to hold our album launch when the time finally came, and the results were…mixed! It turns out there was an evident North/South divide going on, and as you know, we don’t like having people left out, so we have decided to put on TWO launch parties for you on 22nd and 23rd April 2016.
The SOUTH leg of this weekend will take place at The Imperial in Weston-super-Mare on Friday 22nd April, with support from Skeg and another TBC.
As capacity for both venues is limited, we would highly recommend that you get your tickets as soon as possible! Tickets are available by visiting the er, TICKETS section of our website (who’d have thought, eh?).
If you have pre-ordered the album, you will also have the opportunity to collect your CD (signed by the band), T shirts, or any other items purchased on the album website at these gigs. As the album will be available to purchase or download from Monday 25th April, this will be your chance to hear the album played in its entirety live, as well as having a hard copy before its general release.
We would absolutely love to see everyone over this weekend. It’s the culmination of two years of writing, gigging and what promises to be a pretty epic week of recording, and it’s not like we need an excuse for a party, but this is a pretty good one for a two-dayer!
